Our Editorial Process
Every manuscript submitted to Pynewood Press is read carefully and considered on its own merits.
As a small, editorially driven independent press, we publish only a handful of titles each year. Most manuscripts we receive are therefore not offered publication, regardless of their quality. Our decisions are based on editorial fit, literary ambition, and how closely a work aligns with the vision of our publishing list.
Please note:
Alongside our highly selective publishing programme, we offer professional editorial services to authors seeking constructive, in-depth feedback on their manuscripts. These two pathways operate independently. Commissioning editorial services does not influence our publishing decisions.
As a young independent press, we're building our publishing list carefully and intentionally. We acquire only those manuscripts that strongly align with our editorial vision, while continuing to support writers through professional editorial guidance.
What Happens After You Submit
If we believe a manuscript aligns strongly with our publishing vision, we'll continue discussions regarding traditional publication.
Editorial Recommendation
Some manuscripts show genuine promise but require further development before they're ready for publication. In these cases, we may recommend a professional Editorial Assessment. This is a paid editorial service that provides a detailed appraisal of the manuscript together with practical recommendations for revision.
Please note that an Editorial Assessment is entirely independent of our publishing programme and does not guarantee publication.
Declining a Submission
Not every manuscript will be the right fit for Pynewood Press. Where this is the case, we'll let you know as promptly as possible, allowing you to continue submitting your work elsewhere.
Our aim is to remain transparent throughout the process, ensuring authors always understand the difference between editorial services and traditional publication.
